London St Patrick’s Day Medical Cover
First Aid Cover provided full event medical cover to London’s St Patrick’s Day event and parade with hundreds of thousands of attendees over the course of the day. We delivered on-site triage, full medical teams, emergency response vehicles, ambulances, cycle response teams and dedicated treatment centres to keep the event safe and compliant.
The challenge
The organiser needed a scalable medical plan able to handle high footfall, widespread London locations, multiple road closures in some of the busiest areas of central London while meeting local council licensing requirements and keeping disruption to the event experience to a minimum.Â
Our approach
We completed a site risk assessment, deployed a multi-tiered medical plan, positioned stretcher medical response teams with healthcare professional capability and cycle response teams across the event footprint as well as staffed medical tents in strategic locations. We provided five ambulances on standby and a staffed treatment centre from our CQC partner with full triage capabilities. We deployed three rapid response cars with critical care paramedics and doctors on board. All staff were GPS-tracked for rapid dispatch. Control room team included two emergency medical dispatchers and a major incident trained NHS team leader.Â
